Soyuz TMA-7 Manned Spaceship Launch Preparations Begin at Baikonur Spaceport.

Preparations for sending the Soyuz TMA-7 manned spaceship to the International Space Station (ISS) have begun at the Baikonur Spaceport. The spacecraft will take to the station its new, the twelfth long-term crew: the American astronaut William McArthur and the Russian cosmonaut Valerii Tokarev. McArthur will command the crew and Tokarev will be the flight engineer. American citizen, Gregory Olsen, another space tourist, will accompany them on a trip to the ISS.

The launch is scheduled for October 01, 2005. The Soyuz TMA-7 spaceship was delivered to Baikonur on August 06. It is currently on a bench at the Assembly and Test Unit where specialists of the Russian Space Agency have started work in preparation for trial runs of the electronic equipment.

The departure is planned for September 27, 2005.

The program of the visit includes: a tour around launch and engineering facilities, the museum of " Baikonur " launch site and the Yuri Gagarin memorial, acquaintance with the cosmodrome chiefs and employees and many other things.
